Sporklet privacy policy
Effective 24 September 2026. This policy covers the Sporklet app for iPhone and iPad, made by Filmstead Ltd.
The short version
Sporklet does not collect any data about you. Filmstead has no server for the app, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Everything you enter stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account. Filmstead cannot see it.
What the app stores, and where
- What you enter: the people in your household (names, dates of birth, dietary rules), your recipes and their photographs, your weekly plans, shopping lists, stored portions, notes and settings.
- Where it lives: on the device, in the app's own database, and in your iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit), so that your iPhone and iPad show the same data. iCloud is provided by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy. Filmstead has no access to your iCloud data.
- Sharing with a partner: if you share your plan, the data is shared through iCloud between your two Apple accounts, using Apple's sharing. Filmstead is not involved.
- Backups: a backup you export from the app is a file you own. It goes only where you send it.
Features that use your device
- Camera and photo library: photographing a recipe page, or choosing a photo, reads the text on the device. The photographs are kept with the recipe on your device and in your iCloud. They are not sent anywhere else.
- Importing a recipe from a link: the app fetches the page from the address you paste, in the same way a web browser would. That website sees the request as it would see a visit. Filmstead does not.
- Planning and reading recipes with Apple's on-device models: this runs on the device when Apple Intelligence is available. Nothing is sent to Filmstead.
- Notifications: the weekly reminder is scheduled on the device.
- Home-screen widget: the widget reads a copy of the week kept on the device.
Purchases
Sporklet is free to download with a 14-day trial. Keeping it is a one-off purchase made through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and keeps the purchase record. Filmstead receives no payment details and no personal data from a purchase.
Children
Sporklet is made for parents. Information about children is entered by you and stays on your own devices and in your own iCloud, like everything else. The app has no accounts and is not directed at children.
Your data, your control
Filmstead holds no data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. To delete your data: in the app, Settings, then Data, then Erase; and remove Sporklet's iCloud data in the iPhone's Settings under your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage. Deleting the app alone leaves the iCloud copy in place.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date.
